My Remembrance Day Heroes

Corporal Michael Edward (Ted) Collins with the The Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Branch serving peacekeeping duties in Afghanistan. Ted also served peacekeeping duties in Bosnia and Hercegovina.

Served with the Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment) in England, France, Germany and Holland. His duties were to drive around with a Colonel and remove all the dog tags and personal items off the dead.


Pte. Norval Gardiner Giberson (my Golden Grandpa ) - volunteered with all his brothers, served his duty on the Canadian shores.


Lance Corporal Adam Adolphus Willette
My great uncle Adolphus was buried alive for almost a week after the building he was in was bombed. After being rescued, weak and close to death, he was brought to a hospital where he seemed to be getting stronger. In a letter home to his mother, dictated to a priest as he was still too weak to write himself, he said that he was getting better and would becoming home soon. Unfortunately uncle Adolphus succumbed to his wounds shortly after the letter was dictated. The letter didn’t make it home until two days after his mother, Sadie Willette, was informed of his death.
